RALEIGH, N.C. – Causam Energy, Inc., headquartered in Raleigh, today announced an agreement to partner with SDF Development 237彩票app (SDF) to construct a dedicated, secure facility for providing network, interconnection, monitoring and storage to enable Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) for the Northern Virginia electric energy market. SDF is an entity formed by Thomas Darden and John Mazzarino, the co-founders and managing principals of Cherokee Investment Partners, a nationally recognized private equity firm focused in the areas of brownfield redevelopment and sustainability.
Causam Energy made this announcement at the Power Analytics 20/20 Vision-Driven Power Conference, currently being held through October 23 in San Diego. Causam intends to utilize this facility as the first node in its “Network of Power” – a highly secure, transformative, data and communications network capable of interconnecting the vast array of electrical grid devices, elements and participants. It will provide access, monitoring, analytics, command and control, transactions and advanced financial settlements for high availability and high reliability critical infrastructures (including electric power grids, microgrids, and data centers), and will enable and accelerate the implementation of demand response, distributed generation and alternative and renewable power sources and systems.
Causam completed the acquisition of Power Analytics Corporation in August. Power Analytics’ innovative proprietary software products solve complex power and energy problems and, in combination with Causam’s technologies and products, will accelerate the development of advanced communications and applications for the evolving electric power grid.
“Tom Darden and John Mazzarino have time tested skills in the areas of sustainable land use and development of high value assets,” said Joe Forbes, Jr., CEO of Causam. “Their interest in the developing market for highly secure CIP facilities, coupled with their experience in sustainable energy and technologies that enable new sources of reliable and secure power, makes them a tremendous resource for our project. We are thrilled to have them involved through SDF. This will be the first secure interface facility of many, which will serve carriers, private network operators, market participants, and other customers who will require a specialized critical infrastructure ‘on ramp’ to reach the “Network of Power” and other high availability public and private networks. “
“We are very interested in the changing infrastructure requirements that are going to be required to offer new products to an exploding energy-related market for communications and data over the next five years,” said Tom Darden, founder of SDF. “Causam and Power Analytics have the platform, expertise and communications background to implement these new products. We look forward to being involved in the development of these facilities to match the anticipated demand.”
“This is a new market that demonstrates a new development model coupled with sustainability, which is an area where we have significant expertise,” said John Mazzarino, SDF’s co-founder. “As the need for secure and distributed facilities for the intersection of advanced, secure communications and critical infrastructure scales, we believe this team will be uniquely positioned to procure, develop and grow this opportunity.”
The facility is anticipated to be operational in 2015.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
